OJT AND COACHING INTEGRATION

The aim of the PAFLDC OJT and Coaching Program is to effectively implement and integrate a leadership and competency development approach within the Philippine Air Force On-the-Job Training (OJT) framework, providing trainees with structured guidance and opportunities to develop self-awareness and explore diverse leadership skills and competencies grounded in PAF core values and expected behaviors.

The PAFLDC Coaching Program cultivates leadership by targeting specific competencies that enhance leadership skills. It intrinsically strengthens Character through a growth mindset, self-awareness, and a commitment to lifelong learning, while extrinsically promoting selfless leadership and resilience.  Capacity is primarily enhanced intrinsically by fostering self-awareness, a growth mindset, and adaptability, enabling leaders to reflect and adjust accordingly. For Competence, the program develops extrinsic skills in collaboration, including conflict resolution and constructive criticism, emphasizing how leaders apply their knowledge. This comprehensive approach aims to integrate these developments within the On-the-Job Training (OJT) framework, aligning with the Philippine Air Force (PAF) core values and expected behaviors.

Outcomes:

  1.  Appraise strengths and weaknesses: Demonstrate the ability to evaluate opportunities for continued growth.

  2. Commit to life-long learning: Demonstrate a commitment to personal betterment and further learning, persevering for continual improvement.

Competency: COLLABORATION

  1. Resolve and navigate interpersonal conflict: Develop strong interpersonal relationships to mitigate problems and work to develop pathways for compromise and understanding.

  2. Use and receive constructive criticism: Formulate and deliver feedback, and demonstrate the emotional maturity to accept it in return.

 

Dimension: CHARACTER  (How we behave and engage in the world)

Competency: LEADERSHIP

  1.  Use influence on others through a selfless example: Understand how to influence through personal action.

Competency: RESILIENCE

  1. Identify physical and cognitive reactions to situations: Demonstrate self-awareness as circumstances or situations change.

  2. Reframe physical and cognitive reactions to test and adjust emotions and behaviors where necessary: Understand and influence the nature of emotional responses. Demonstrate the capacity to manage emotion as a precursor to developing resilient behaviors.
